When we receive initiation (the Act of Grace) from a True Mentor (Sadguru) , the transformation that begins within us is often so subtle that we may not even notice it at first. We might feel like the same person, looking at the same world, unaware that a profound “inner shift” has already been set in motion.
Our minds are incredibly sensitive to the environments we inhabit. If you spend time in a place of worship or a peaceful retreat, your thoughts naturally rise to a higher level. Conversely, if you are surrounded by conflict, anger, or negativity, those qualities—lust, anger, greed, attachment, and jealousy—begin to stir within you. We are constantly being shaped by the “vibrations” of our surroundings.
This is exactly why the company of a True Mentor is so vital. By staying in their presence—their “inner circle”—their high-vibration energy and pure character begin to influence us unconsciously.
While the negative influence of a bad environment is often temporary, it preys upon our lower instincts. However, the influence of a Mentor works in the opposite direction. The more we align ourselves with them, the more our lower, restless tendencies begin to fade, and our higher, virtuous nature begins to flourish. The mind becomes clear, pure, and sincere. This is the process of becoming a Seeker—one who walks the path of wisdom.
As a seeker stays close to the source of wisdom, their senses become more refined and sensitive. You begin to develop a “spiritual intuition,” sensing the character and energy of the people around you. As your practice deepens, your own inner peace begins to affect those around you. This is the permanent gift of staying connected to a True Mentor.
Through this connection and the Act of Grace, your spiritual progress accelerates, eventually leading you toward the ultimate goal of human life. In the grand scheme of things, the true purpose of life isn't just the accumulation of wealth or fame—it is Ultimate Liberation. This state of freedom requires a foundation of high character and spiritual growth.
Because this peak of human potential is nearly impossible to reach alone, we seek a Mentor, accept their Grace, and live according to the map they provide.
